Another big city, more amazing views from high up-top. This time from the 73rd floor of the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Downtown Atlanta. It’s the second tallest hotel in the western hemisphere, 723 feet above the city. It’s the place to get 360 degree views of Downtown Atlanta and beyond.
Watch yourself go up in one of the dual glass elevators. Looking out your staring right at the Midtown skyline.
As soon as you exit the elevator you’re in awe at the views. Here you can checkout the comers and goers on I-75, Georgia Tech University and Bobby Dodd Stadium, The Varsity and the Atlanta Station shopping and entertainment area.
Turning towards the west, you’ll see one of my favorite spots Centennial Olympic Park. The Georgia Aquarium, World Of Coca Cola and the Georgia Dome home to the Atlanta Falcons football team and other major sporting events are all right there, as well as is CNN world headquarters (CNN Center).
Looking towards the south you can see the state capital building and Turner Field, the home of the Atlanta Braves baseball team.
Get up close shots of the rest of Downtown and the various skyscrapers.
Off to the east is the historic Stone Mountain, noticeable from wherever you’re at in the Atlanta area.
As you walk the 360 degrees of the observatory you’ll see markers noting the different Atlanta neighborhoods, suburbs and highlights straight ahead. To the north is the affluent Buckhead neighborhood, to the southeast is the historic Cabbagetown neighborhood.
Featured up-top is the Sun Dial Restaurant Bar and View. Dine at a revolving upscale restaurant and have some drinks with friends at the rotating cocktail lounge while soaking in the magnificent panoramic views. Will be returning to take in the atmosphere, hang out in the lounge and capture the views at night.
Next time you’re in Atlanta I recommend heading up to the 73rd floor. Great views, dining, drinks and more awaits. What major city skyscraper is your favorite to go up-top to soak in the views?
