Photo of the historic Ferry Building on The Embarcadero in San Francisco. Completed in 1898, the building has served many purposes including housing a first floor marketplace since 2003. I was headed to checkout the shops there when I ran into this line of people and many others. It was 5:10 p.m. on the clock tower so lots of business people were flocking to the surrounding ferries to take them to various points around San Francisco Bay.
It kinda got me thinking, who wouldn’t want to travel to work via a ferry and the water?!
That’s a great shot!
Thanks! Glad I came up to the building from that direction. ๐
This is one of my favorite buildings in SF! I like how the vendors are mostly local, as opposed to national fast food chains. And a ferry commute? I could do that!!
Definitely. Don’t want to see the typical chain, the stores that are everywhere. Far West Fungi, the mushroom store, caught my attention. I’d be taking photos to and from work every day if I commuted that way. ๐
I love that store and of course I took some pictures there too. I actually have a post about the Ferry Building in the works.
Will have to check the post out!
Seriously! Would be a great way to start (and end!) the workday!
No doubt, picture myself in the morning just hanging out at the edge of the ferry with a hot cup of coffee, always a camera in hand and getting to know all the other locals who do it regularly too. ๐
