Photo of the Week: Phoenix from the Air.

Captured this shot of the Phoenix skyline when descending upon Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport this summer. Was excited to see “The Valley of the Sun” up close.

What skylines, cities have you seen up close in the air?

  1. Oh, I love aerial shots… You know it. 🙂 I have seen Phoenix from that altitude, although didn’t get to explore the city, it was just a layover. I love landing in Chicago at night, the view is incredible.

    • I was just there for a layover that day myself, though saw a lot just from the air. 🙂 Chicago, I can imagine. Gotta make sure to nab a window seat on the next flight through there.

  2. Hmmm let’s see…I’ve seen Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Vegas, Honolulu, Paris, Rome, London, Dublin, and Chicago, to name a few. The ugliest by far is flying into Los Angeles. Having grown up there, I know you fly West over the ghetto for quite a while before landing, but those of you who may not be from LA, you might wonder what you’re getting yourself into. London was the coolest, by far, to fly into. After being in the air for nearly 10 hours I was bouncing up and down in my seat and getting excited about all the cool landmarks I could see….Big Ben, Parliament, the Tower of London, that stupid eye thing….I could see it all!

    • London is on the radar down the road, better nab a window seat for that flight. Well any flight for that matter duh. 🙂 That’s a great list. Agree with flying above LA itself, definitely not very scenic. Coming into SoCal in general, especially from the west and the Pacific, it’s so beautiful to see land, the coast and the beaches after just water for so long.
