Non-chain coffeehouses seem to be popping up all over the place, downtown Detroit is no exception. Lots of people get excited for baseball opening day. I get excited for coffee shop opening day. On Monday Urban Bean Coffee reopened, after several years away, in the Capitol Park district and I was there.
Tip #3: If you have the chance, get to an opening day coffee shop style!
Youโll be one of the first to enjoy the new digs and coffee deliciousness. You’ll be a part of a new business opening it’s doors and the joy that comes with. You’ll possibly get to experience being in a new place (in this case a Detroit neighborhood) for the first time.
My coffee choice on this initial visit was the Pure Evil Latte. Delicious.
Urban Bean Coffee is catered somewhat to people looking for coffee on the go, on the way to work. They do have some seating though upstairs that provide wide open views of the city at the corner of Grand River and Griswold. Great coffee, views and a relaxing atmosphere what could be better!
I chilled with my coffee, got some work done, checked out the new digs before heading on my way. It was a great coffee shop opening day. I look forward to another one wherever that may be out on the open road.
Have you ever visited a place on its first day of business either around home or in your travels?
I’m with you on going to coffee shop openings – I’m actually getting ready for one in Chicago and can’t wait. It’s nice to support a local business plus events like this are a chance to meet the owners, baristas, or people you’ll be sitting next to in coming weeks. What’s not to love? ๐ Great photos here. This place definitely goes on my to-do-in-the-D list!
Thank you Pola! The people working there are very nice. Had some cool conversations, will definitely be making my apperances there. It was neat seeing them open containers and run things to make the coffee for the first time. ๐ Definitely a good place to have on your list.
