When going through Oakland Cemetery in the Grant Park neighborhood of Atlanta you are amongst beautiful gardens and so much history, not to mention great views of the downtown skyline. What caught the eye though as I was walking around was the Fulton Bag & Cotton Mills plant that sits in Cabbagetown across the way.
The mill dates back to 1881 ceasing operation in 1977 and now serves as condos/lofts. I don’t know if it was the color, the water tower or the historical nature that gravitated my eyes that way, but I’m glad I saw it.
This is a great photo, not only because of that stunning mill but also the lopsided headstones in the foreground! They are quite eerie and intriguing.
Most definitely! The grave stones throughout all catch the eye and I can’t imagine how old some of the them are.
Nice use of foreground and background!
Thanks Erik! A favorite spot will return to. Do love the background.
Gorgeous, I love how the windows are picking up the colour of the sky. xxx
Definitely! Was drawn to the windows too. The sky was perfect on that day.
This is just a really cool shot. I love the fact that the huge tree has no leaves as it conforms to the whole aura of the shot with the old factory building, cemetery in the background, and dimming light.
Thanks Ted! Yes indeed. Was a winter time stop in the cemetery, so missed the greenery but that time of year has it’s advantages to in terms of photography. The grass was pretty much brown too. 🙂
Great Picture. I never knew Atlanta could look this pretty 🙂
Thanks! Atlanta is a beautiful city, of course I might be a little biased. 🙂 Amazing though how many great spots there are from Oakland Cemetery where I shot this. Skyline, historical and gardens views from there.
