“The” Chicago Coffee for Me.

Chicago has a thriving independent, non-chain coffee shop scene. Every time I’m in the Windy City lots of coffee exploration of course takes place. Each new trip brings new coffee experiences with one exception…

…The Wormhole Coffee in Wicker Park. I always find time to walk into the sci-fi themed coffeehouse and order “The” coffee drink for me in Chicago. One Peanut Butter Koopa Troopa coming up.

I’m enjoying one as I write this post. So good. There is a DeLorean parked in the back of the shop. Does that mean Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett Brown are here?!

What is “The” coffee drink for you in Chicago? In the city you live near?

  1. This is a GREAT choice! Thanks for introducing me to it. πŸ™‚

  2. I love learning about new coffee shops. A peanut butter coffee drink?!

    • Try to get to and experience as many coffee shops in as many places as I can. Find it’s a great way to meet locals, have great coffee and get a feel for various neighborhoods. πŸ™‚ Peanut butter and coffee go great together! A lot of places have Nutella Latte’s too. Would definitely recommend those. πŸ™‚

  3. While not a huge fan of coffee I might be tempted to try a peanut butter one! I think Americano with milk would be a favourite although I quite like the flat white they do in New Zealand. You just can’t beat a strong cup of builders tea though!

    • Do like the Flat Whites they have in New Zealand. Found a place in Michigan that serves a good one. Wasn’t excepting much the first time I had the peanut butter coffee. After one sip I was hooked.

  4. I still can’t believe that I live in Chicago and you were the one to tell me about the Wormhole! As you know, I’ve been a very frequent guest there ever since. They do have one of the best lattes in the city, if not the best. And they’re open late, perfect for late-night folks like me. πŸ™‚

    • Yes yes, get jealous every time I see you there. Glad I was able to stop in a couple of times this week. πŸ™‚ Got the Vanilla Bean latte as well when there, recommend that one too! Lots of laptops and people always hanging out. Hope to checkout the night time vibe sometime.

  5. Have never considered peanut butter and coffee as items that go together until now. It is always great when a city has fun, independent coffee options to try out.

    • I didn’t either before, but whenever I get a specialty type coffee I gravitate towards the peanut butter. The Wormhole has the best one I’m tried. No doubt. Always checking out the coffee scene wherever I go. If you ever spot a Nutella Latte anywhere, try that too yum! πŸ™‚

  6. Wicker Park is a little out of the way for me as it is not on the train lines that I normally travel, but I will have to make an effort and check the Wormhole out.

    • Hope you do make it that way sometime! A trip to Chicago always has to include a stop there. πŸ™‚ Love the whole scene along N. Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park and Logan Square.
