Every year, around this same time, I make the trek over to Huron Meadows Metropark in Brighton, Michigan. Each time I head out onto the open dirt road, with oak-hickory forest on either side, to capture Autumn and the changing of the colors. This multi-mile stretch of road leads to the main parking area and Huron River on the south end of the park.
The variety of Fall colors, the remote feel, being able to see what lies way ahead, I don’t know what it is about this stretch of road. It’s just one of those places that I find myself compelled to return to every year. Well without further ado.
If you get off the dirt road and head into the woods this time of year, this is what awaits! ๐
Is there a place you return to every Autumn to capture and soak in the colors of the season?
This is a park we haven’t been to yet…sounds like a good road trip idea soon!
There are a lot of nice parks in this area. Brighton and Island Lake Recreation Areas (State Parks) are worth a look too! ๐
Tim was out canoeing once or twice at Island Lake this year…and I can remember going there in the past. I think you sold Tim on going to check out Huron Meadows next week ๐
Cool beans! Let me know how you guys like it. ๐
For me it is the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The Porcupine Mountains is the best park, but discovered that Pictured Rocks is not too shabby either. Great photos here and looks like the color is about perfect.
Wow, what a drive! Last year I did the Tunnel of Trees drive but was a little too early. The fiery orange trees are amazing.
It’s a spot I find myself going back to every Autumn. ๐ Heard great things about the Tunnel of Trees and Harbor Springs area. Need to get up there sometime, hopefully soon.
