In recent times it’s been another day, another marina. I’m definitely not complaining. 🙂 On a recent early morning I made a stop at Leamington Municipal Marina in southwestern Ontario. The public marina is just south of downtown Leamington along Lake Erie. Some photos from my time there.
The cloud types on this morning made for some great shots.
Went for an early morning jog as there was amble walkways available.
Off in the distance is the ferry that will take you over to Pelee Island, a beautiful retreat in Lake Erie. You’ll see the cars lining up waiting to be transported along with the people.
A closer shot…
Colorful, well-kept hanging baskets and other flowers. Plants and freshly cut green grass dot the marina and surrounding area. In general, I saw lots of workers out-and-about, everything was clean and well maintained.
Sit on one of the many benches and checkout the marina, boats and Lake Erie all in front of you. A romantic setting to be sure.
Just off to the left of the marina you get can some unobstructed views of Lake Erie. Hi Ohio and the United States! I know your out there somewhere.
It was a great morning checking and hanging out at Leamington Municipal Marina. One of the more scenic, welcoming marinas I’ve ever visited. It’s a place I recommend adding to your Lake Erie to-do list. What other hot spots would you recommend checking out along Lake Erie in Canada or the United States?
Quick what’s the southern most point in mainland Canada? It’s this point at 41.57 degrees north latitude.
You are looking at Lake Erie from Point Pelee. The point is at the tip of the peninsula of Point Pelee Park just outside of Leamington, Ontario. Watch the waves come at you from both sides.
Do a 180 and you’ll see where you exited the woods of the park and landed on the beach. It kinda looks like you’re on a remote island.
Exiting the woods you’ll get a good shot of the beach, coastline and lake on both sides.
To get to Point Pelee in the warmer months you drive into the park and stop at the travel centre. At the travel centre they have a little museum where you can get some history and ecology of the park. There you hop on a quick shuttle to go the last 2.5 kilometers. It’s about a 20-25 minute walk.
Another day, another great spot along Lake Erie and the Great Lakes.
What spots would you recommend along Lake Erie in Canada or the United States?

The tomato capital of Canada is Leamington in southwestern Ontario. This is highlighted by the fact that it’s tourist information centre is “The Big Tomato”. It’s the largest tomato you’ll find anywhere.
There is Heinz tomato factory nearby which ships product not just throughout Canada, but all over the United States as well.
