Atlanta: A Million Skyline Looks.

The skyline. Anyone who follows me on this blog or on social media knows I like to capture city skylines. With that I got excited starting the A Million Skyline Looks series.

Toronto, Chicago, Auckland and now it is Atlanta’s turn. The unofficial capitol of the South has distinct skylines in both Midtown and Downtown.

Photo opportunities to capture both from parks, bridges, high up-top sky rises and from right out on the open road (as a passenger of course) have presented themselves, along with many more. Coming up with a million skyline looks of a place I’ve lived in and visited a lot is easy. Well without further ado:

Chicago: A Million More Skyline Looks.

I’ve made it no secret through this blog and on Twitter and Instagram that I love the Chicago skyline. The Windy City was highlighted in my ongoing A Million Skyline Looks series earlier in the year.

A few months back I made my annual summer time trip to Chi-town which meant more skyline photo opportunity. Each trip brings with it the same tried-and-true spots along with new roof top bars, new neighborhoods and different vantage points. It was not an issue finding a million more skyline looks! Well without further ado:

Besides capturing the vastness of the city on this trip I decided to play a little peekaboo with the Sears, I mean, Willis Tower. It always seems to be in view. A great navigational tool in fact if you ever get lost.

Auckland: A Million Skyline Looks.

Continuing the series of highlighting skylines I’ve captured brings us next to Auckland. New Zealand’s biggest city and skyline offers photographers water shots, a hilly topography and views of the largest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere, Sky Tower. You can capture the heart of this city in every place imaginable from up-top dormant volcanoes to peninsulas kilometers away.

I thought I’d share some larger, enhanced versions of photos I took and used in my original Auckland skyline post from a few years back, plus some additional ones. Well without further ado.

Chicago: A Million Skyline Looks.

A while back I posted Toronto: A Million Skyline Looks, which highlighted some of my favorite shots in Canada’s biggest city. I recently re-read the post and it inspired me to start a series of posts highlighting what my camera has shot while hanging out in a big city. Next up the Windy City and the million skyline looks it has to offer!

Chicago is one of the biggest cities in the United States, home to one of the most impressive and beautiful skylines you will find anywhere. I’ve spent a lot of time there over the years, being not to far from home. Below are some of the favorite Chicago skyline photos I have taken, so far that is. 🙂

Toronto: A Million Skyline Looks.

During the recent travel blogger conference (TBEX) in Toronto, I attended an after-party on Centre Island, one of the Toronto Islands. On the short ferry ride to get out to the chain islands out in Lake Ontario, it became apparent that I was going to be giving the beautiful and expansive skyline lots of eyeball time.

I was one of the first people to the party at Shopsy’s so I headed to the table closest to the water and started firing away,…

…capturing the skyline which was in the background to the beautiful greenery right in front of me.

There the CN Tower sits front and center with the neighboring white-domed Rogers Centre along for the ride.

Do you see the plane that’s about to land at nearby Toronto Island Airport?

It was getting later in the evening so each shot brought a little more darkness.

Toronto skyline, Ontario, Canada, Toronto Islands, Lake Ontario

More and more people were bringing their conversations and fun out onto the outside decks getting their smart phones and cameras ready. Some people had their umbrellas out as it was raining lightly, but that wasn’t going to stop the skyline photo madness. 🙂

It’s wasn’t just the tower that was front and center. At times, the sky was lighting up perfectly behind it.

I grabbed a couple of more shots from along the railing…

…and before you knew it, the city lights were starting to come on in the distance.

There she sits, all it up and the CN Tower is standing tall. I loved how the colors reflected off the night waters of Lake Ontario.

The ferry ride back concluded the Toronto city photo madness. 🙂

It was a night of fun and a million skyline looks. Each one seemed better than the next. We docked and I was once again within all the buildings that I spent a lot of the evening capturing.

What skyline or other scenes have you just clicked your camera over-and-over again from daylight to night?
