Toronto: A Million Skyline Looks.

During the recent travel blogger conference (TBEX) in Toronto, I attended an after-party on Centre Island, one of the Toronto Islands. On the short ferry ride to get out to the chain islands out in Lake Ontario, it became apparent that I was going to be giving the beautiful and expansive skyline lots of eyeball time.

I was one of the first people to the party at Shopsy’s so I headed to the table closest to the water and started firing away,…

…capturing the skyline which was in the background to the beautiful greenery right in front of me.

There the CN Tower sits front and center with the neighboring white-domed Rogers Centre along for the ride.

Do you see the plane that’s about to land at nearby Toronto Island Airport?

It was getting later in the evening so each shot brought a little more darkness.

More and more people were bringing their conversations and fun out onto the outside decks getting their smart phones and cameras ready. Some people had their umbrellas out as it was raining lightly, but that wasn’t going to stop the skyline photo madness. πŸ™‚

It’s wasn’t just the tower that was front and center. At times, the sky was lighting up perfectly behind it.

I grabbed a couple of more shots from along the railing…

…and before you knew it, the city lights were starting to come on in the distance.

There she sits, all it up and the CN Tower is standing tall. I loved how the colors reflected off the night waters of Lake Ontario.

The ferry ride back concluded the Toronto city photo madness. πŸ™‚

It was a night of fun and a million skyline looks. Each one seemed better than the next. We docked and I was once again within all the buildings that I spent a lot of the evening capturing.

What skyline or other scenes have you just clicked your camera over-and-over again from daylight to night?

Toronto: The CN Tower is my Guide.

Recently during TBEX weekend in Toronto I was going back-and-forth between Chinatown, Kensington Market, Downtown and other neighborhoods. I was traveling mainly on foot without using maps or the GPS on my phone. Why? I decided to use the CN Tower, the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere, as my guide.

During my roaming it was over here…

…and over there…

…and everywhere!

Peekaboo, there it is. Thank goodness, I know where I’m at now! πŸ™‚

You never know when the CN Tower will appear amongst the buildings…

…and the trees. It’s like a breathe of fresh air when you see it.

The tower doesn’t just mark where you’re at, it also gives off countless scenic photo opportunities. Lot’s of blue between the tower, Roy Thomson Hall and the office buildings.

I usually always grab a Starbucks photo (even if I don’t go in) when I’m in the big city and low-and-behold there the tower is. πŸ™‚

I loved capturing the tower, with another historic staple, the electric streetcars and their corresponding wires. The King Street streetcar is going by.

Lot’s of wires stood between me and the tower like these at the intersection of Spadina and Queen Streets.

It’s early, early morning in Chinatown as I started heading towards the tower going down Spadina Street.

Two location markers! The tower and the Kensington Market neighborhood. How could one get lost?!

The CN Tower can be used as a guide within buildings too, like here at the Metro Toronto Convention Center South Building. The convention center is vast, so an additional directional guide is handy.

It was a great weekend in Toronto. I could always count on my friend, the CN Tower, to appear when I needed them. πŸ™‚ A scenic view usually followed.

What towers, skyscrapers, landmarks or other things have you used before as a guide in your travels?
