Chicago: A Million Skyline Looks.

A while back I posted Toronto: A Million Skyline Looks, which highlighted some of my favorite shots in Canada’s biggest city. I recently re-read the post and it inspired me to start a series of posts highlighting what my camera has shot while hanging out in a big city. Next up the Windy City and the million skyline looks it has to offer!

Chicago is one of the biggest cities in the United States, home to one of the most impressive and beautiful skylines you will find anywhere. I’ve spent a lot of time there over the years, being not to far from home. Below are some of the favorite Chicago skyline photos I have taken, so far that is. 🙂

Always keep an eye on Chicago’s tall buildings when along the water.

What other spots would recommend for capturing the Chicago skyline and heart of the city?

Photo(s) of the Week: What’s first Chicago?!

Recently every time I am in Chicago, the hotel of choice is on Michigan Avenue right alongside/around Grant Park. The first thing I always seem to do once I get settled is go for a run. So I run across the street into the park and stumbled into…

Buckingham Fountain, Grant Park, Chicago

…Buckingham Fountain. It’s one of the largest fountains the world and makes lot’s of people immediately think of the opening to the “Married with Children” TV series. During my last visit I found myself singing “Love and marriage, love and marriage…” when approaching it haha. 🙂

Make sure when your around the fountain to catch some of the great skyline views.

Photo of the Week: A Chicago Summary up-top Willis.

Being up-top Willis Tower (will always be Sears Tower to me) at Skydeck Chicago provided a great way to end my recent Chicago stay. It provides three-hundred sixty degree views, this one immediately catching the eye.

It highlighted where I stayed and spent a lot of my time on this visit. The Congress Hotel, Hilton Chicago, Buckingham Fountain, Alder Planetarium, Lake Shore Drive and Lake Michigan, Grant Park and more are all in view. Great memories at all as I check them out again from above.

Photo of the Week: A Chicago Sign on Navy Pier.

Hanging out on Chicago’s famed Navy Pier I came across this travel signage while looking south along the shoreline. Where to go next? Mexico City? Buenos Aires? Frankfurt? Toronto (yes, yes for TBEX!)? Oh my the possibilities. The plane up-top the sign has other ideas though. It’s leading me to believe I should head to the sun. That might be a little to warm and tropical haha. The sun had a unique look to it all day, trying to get through the clouds. 🙂

Photo(s) of the Week: On the Path to a Skyline.

On an early winter morning I sat out on the path to a skyline, Chicago’s. These shots were on Chicago’s lakefront bike path that runs alongside the Lake Michigan shoreline. I was near North Avenue Beach just outside of downtown. You’ll usually find bikers and runners covering the pavement, but the early morning and cold meant I had an open path straight ahead!

Before hitting up the bike path, I spent some wintry times on the beach. You can check them out in Chicago + Winter + Beach = Beautiful.
