Quick what’s the southern most point in mainland Canada? It’s this point at 41.57 degrees north latitude.
You are looking at Lake Erie from Point Pelee. The point is at the tip of the peninsula of Point Pelee Park just outside of Leamington, Ontario. Watch the waves come at you from both sides.
Do a 180 and you’ll see where you exited the woods of the park and landed on the beach. It kinda looks like you’re on a remote island.
Exiting the woods you’ll get a good shot of the beach, coastline and lake on both sides.
To get to Point Pelee in the warmer months you drive into the park and stop at the travel centre. At the travel centre they have a little museum where you can get some history and ecology of the park. There you hop on a quick shuttle to go the last 2.5 kilometers. It’s about a 20-25 minute walk.
Another day, another great spot along Lake Erie and the Great Lakes.
What spots would you recommend along Lake Erie in Canada or the United States?
