Having to be in Brighton, Michigan right in the middle of a winter storm (Mateo) randomly gave me the idea to capture the snowy scene the only way I know how.
I walked and laid down on Main Street and nearby Huron Meadows Metro Park and Hammel Road. There was ample white to capture without a sole around. I wanted to get out on the open roads before it was disturbed with salt, plows and lots of vehicle traffic.
This post was put together right in the moment as I captured some Pure Michigan winter beauty. Well without further ado.
Tip: I recommend capturing Hammel Road, a dirt road just outside Brighton, no matter the season. Fall and winter though take this spot to an even greater level.
Again to the Michigan beauty that winter and snow can bring. Cheers!
Has there been a scene you randomly decided to capture right as a winter or other type of storm was happening?
Once a season I make my way on to Belle Isle Park in Detroit, Michigan. It’s an island park that sits in the middle of the Detroit River. I always head to the southwestern tip of the island to capture two cities, two skylines and two countries. Windsor, Ontario, Canada is on the left, Detroit, Michigan, United States is on the right.
I’ve posted about this place before, but this is the first time I’m doing so Live and in the moment. I’m out on the snowy path to two countries in the cold, wind and snow. 🙂 Beautiful.

The first big snow of the season has hit. Your not looking forward to the terrible road conditions, getting out that shovel or dealing with the cold air and blowing snow.
While walking around in Findlay, Ohio during their first snow I came up to the main entrance of the University of Findlay. Scenes like this after a fresh snow, at least for a little bit, makes everything a bit more tolerable. 🙂
Driving in Michigan recently there was something unusual going on. There were few clouds in the sky. Usually during the winter months it’s one cloudy day after another. That leads to not seeing many sunsets. 😦 It was getting closer to sunset and I was near Kensington Metropark in Milford so I decided to stop off and take advantage of the mostly clear sky.
I parked and made the snowy trek down to some piers along Kent Lake within the park. Upon arriving, right in front of me were lot’s of colors and a sunset! 🙂
Being opposite the lake and with lot’s of snow in view made for an enjoyable and scenic experience. I look forward to that next sunset. Who knows where I will capture it from.
