An Ohio and Midwest Winter Scene.

A few months back I captured the Autumn colors of Findlay and Hancock County right in the heart of Ohio and the Midwest. This past weekend it was time to capture some of the snow and winter scene. It might not be as colorful, but it is just as beautiful.

Thinking Romance Walking the Lakeshore in Cleveland.

Every time I’m in Cleveland, usually once a season, I gravitate towards Edgewater Park which sits just west of downtown. This week was no exception. I made a stop there right before sunset on a cold, wintry day. Lake Erie, one of the Great Lakes, was there to greet me front and center. No land as far as the eye can see.

The pier was closed, but makes for a great spot for hanging out, chasing pigeons and soaking in the views in the warmer months. More on this in a moment. πŸ™‚

I slowly starting walking along the frozen lake, changing my view-point from due north to east. Two things were starting to come into view.

Straight ahead now was an open snowy path and the Cleveland skyline! I was out on the open trail towards downtown.

Due to the amount of snow in the Midwest this season I didn’t get very far as the snow pack was deep. That didn’t stop me from just standing there and taking the scenery in though.

After a little bit it was getting closer to sunset so I turned to the west and was greeted with something beautiful.

Back to the pier, this park makes me smile even more, because it’s where I fell in love with the love of my life. A few years back we were in the initial dating stage, hanging out at the park. She was busy chasing some of the aforementioned pigeons off the pier. I was watching her in action and I thought to myself for the first time, “I am falling in love with this girl”. πŸ™‚

Now wonder I keep coming back here. It’s not all about travel and scenery at this spot along Lake Erie, but romance too. Happy Valentine’s Day to all!

Are there any memorable parks, trails or spots along the water that you have spent time in around home or in your travels?

Belle Isle Detroit: The Snowy Path To Two Countries.

Once a season I make my way on to Belle Isle Park in Detroit, Michigan. It’s an island park that sits in the middle of the Detroit River. I always head to the southwestern tip of the island to capture two cities, two skylines and two countries. Windsor, Ontario, Canada is on the left, Detroit, Michigan, United States is on the right.

I’ve posted about this place before, but this is the first time I’m doing so Live and in the moment. I’m out on the snowy path to two countries in the cold, wind and snow. πŸ™‚ Beautiful.

Photo of the Week: A Snowy Ohio College Campus.

The first big snow of the season has hit. Your not looking forward to the terrible road conditions, getting out that shovel or dealing with the cold air and blowing snow.

While walking around in Findlay, Ohio during their first snow I came up to the main entrance of the University of Findlay. Scenes like this after a fresh snow, at least for a little bit, makes everything a bit more tolerable. πŸ™‚

Photo(s) of the Week: On the Path to a Skyline.

On an early winter morning I sat out on the path to a skyline, Chicago’s. These shots were on Chicago’s lakefront bike path that runs alongside the Lake Michigan shoreline. I was near North Avenue Beach just outside of downtown. You’ll usually find bikers and runners covering the pavement, but the early morning and cold meant I had an open path straight ahead!

Before hitting up the bike path, I spent some wintry times on the beach. You can check them out in Chicago + Winter + Beach = Beautiful.
